Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking an SAP IS-U BPEM Exception Management Functional SME on behalf of our client in Boston, MA. We are looking for an experienced SAP Utilities professional with strong expertise in SAP IS-U Business Process Exception Management (BPEM) and Utility Meter-to-Cash (M2C) processes. This role will focus on exception monitoring, case management, root-cause analysis, process optimization, and functional support across key SAP IS-U business processes.

The ideal candidate will possess deep utilities industry experience and a proven track record of improving exception-handling processes, reducing operational inefficiencies, and supporting mission-critical utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional SME for SAP IS-U BPEM and exception management processes.
• Analyze, prioritize, and resolve business process exceptions across utility operations.
• Configure and maintain BPEM case categories, exception types, priorities, workflows, and processor assignments.
• Perform root-cause analysis and identify opportunities to improve exception handling and automation.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to implement effective solutions.
• Monitor exception trends, identify recurring issues, and recommend process improvements.
• Prepare functional requirements and specifications to support enhancements and development efforts.
• Support production operations, incident management, testing, and system enhancements.
• Ensure seamless integration between BPEM and core SAP IS-U processes.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of SAP IS-U functional experience within the Utilities industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP IS-U Business Process Exception Management (BPEM).
• Proven experience as a BPEM Functional Consultant or Exception Management SME.
• Deep understanding of Utility Meter-to-Cash (M2C) business processes.
• Expertise in exception identification, categorization, routing, prioritization, and resolution.
• Strong knowledge of SAP IS-U modules, including:
  • Billing & Invoicing
  • Meter Reading
  • Device Management
  • Customer Service
  • Move-In / Move-Out
  • Contract Accounts Receivable & Payable (FI-CA)
  • Payments & Collections
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional SAP solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting SAP implementations, enhancements, upgrades, or production support environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
• Knowledge of SAP FI-CA integration with SAP IS-U.
• Experience with EDM, AMI, Meter Data Management (MDM), and Device Management processes.
• Experience supporting large-scale utility transformation or implementation programs.
• Familiarity with SAP IS-U master data and technical objects.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
• Strong background in production support and operational excellence initiatives.
