The NP works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician. The NP has no managerial responsibilities.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited college/university NP programMust possess current licenses or certifications in this stateExperience in Correctional desired but not requiredAcute care experience preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.Identifies inmate /patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician.Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.Provides education to inmate /patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.Documents all healthcare contacts.Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, andcontrolled medications.Assigns tasks to team members as needed.Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.Attends training and meetings as required.
