MSL Captive Solutions Inc, a division of Strategic Risk Solutions, Inc is seeking a Chief Underwriting Officer to lead its medical stop loss captive business. This is a remote position with the opportunity to build a local office-based team. Responsibilities and Duties This position will have leadership responsibility for the company's underwriting operations as we grow in an emerging, exciting segment of the medical stop loss market. Specific duties will include:

• Manage the relationships with the company's stop loss market including developing new carrier relationships as needed
• Oversee and lead a team of underwriters maintaining high level of professional and technical standards in underwriting blocks of medical stop loss business, both group and single parent captive programs
• Establish and implement the underwriting procedures for the company, ensuring adherence to consistent operating standards
• Oversee the policy administration functions of the company ensuring employer stop loss and treaty policy documentation is produced on-time and accurately
• Manage claims administration processes, overseeing the firm's outsourced claims administration service providers
• Manage key producer and program manager relationships
• Manage key underwriting vendor relations, including evaluating new cost containment vendors and underwriting approaches to high cost claims
• Monitor the latest trends in the stop loss and captive markets and introduce program and operational enhancements as appropriate including opportunities for automation and AI underwriting
• Participate as a key member of Strategic Risk Solutions' employee benefits leadership team setting direction for the firm's strategy and activities related to medical stop loss insurance services.

Attributes and Skills

• 10-15 years of medical stop loss underwriting experience required
• Experience and familiarity underwriting employer-owned captive programs for medical stop loss
• Proven track record of underwriting, production management, and portfolio management
• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy and techniques including understanding of actuarial projections and the ability to assess risk
• Familiarity with David Young (ESL) System is preferred
• Ability to manage and lead teams, including in a virtual working environment
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis and negotiation
• Bachelor's Degree
