Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), School-Based Special Education Counselor (Independent Contractor)

The Role
AIM is seeking a Texas-licensed LPC to provide counseling as a related service for students receiving special education services. You'll work directly with students, campus staff, and families to deliver IEP-driven counseling, and you'll be an active member of ARD committees.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group counseling to students according to their IEP service schedules
• Write measurable counseling goals and objectives, and report progress on them each grading period
• Attend and participate in ARD committee meetings (initial, annual, review, and REED), presenting counseling recommendations, service minutes, and progress data
• Contribute counseling information to FIIEs, reevaluations, and counseling assessments
• Consult with teachers, diagnosticians, SPs, and administrators on behavior, social-emotional needs, and BIPs
• Complete session notes and service logs within 2 business days of each session, meeting district and SHARS documentation requirements
• Maintain confidentiality in line with FERPA, IDEA, and Texas licensure standards
• Support crisis response following district protocols

Qualifications

• Current, active LPC license in good standing with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council
• Experience in a school or with children and adolescents, preferably in special education
• Working knowledge of IDEA, the Texas ARD process, and IEP development
• Strong written documentation and time-management skills
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Reliable transportation to assigned campuses
• A plus: bilingual (Spanish/English); experience with students with emotional disturbance, autism, or behavioral needs

Contract Details

• Pay: Commensurate with experience
• Schedule: Hours/week during the school year, on the district calendar
• Location: Fort Worth area
• Classification: Independent contractor (1099). You are responsible for your own taxes and professional liability insurance.
• License status is verified before placement and periodically throughout the contract.
