Job Description:
As a Data Warehouse Architect, you will be responsible for the architecture, administration, security, performance, and operational support of enterprise data warehouse environments. You will lead initiatives related to data integration, ETL processes, change management, security governance, data quality, and platform optimization while ensuring the availability of critical business data for operational and strategic decision-making. This role requires deep expertise in Teradata, Linux administration, enterprise data warehousing, and large-scale data integration environments, along with the ability to provide technical leadership and support for complex data platform initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support enterprise data warehouse platforms, ensuring availability, reliability, and performance.
- Administer and maintain common batch processing frameworks and enterprise scheduling solutions supporting critical business processes.
- Oversee data warehouse change management processes, including code migrations, DDL promotions, and release management activities.
- Perform build engineering activities for manual and automated deployment processes.
- Manage and maintain Linux security structures for ETL and data warehouse environments.
- Administer data warehouse security, user access controls, permissions, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and governance policies.
- Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation, operational procedures, technical specifications, and support materials.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution support for complex data warehouse and ETL issues.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies to improve scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, accuracy, and effective utilization of enterprise data assets.
- Manage and support data integration and ETL processes across multiple source systems.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party partners to support platform operations and enhancements.
- Support patch management, software upgrades, system maintenance, and operational readiness activities.
- Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to optimize data platform operations.
- Perform data profiling and implement data quality rules, validation procedures, and assessment frameworks.
- Execute data cleansing, standardization, and remediation activities using automated and custom solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for data warehouse environments.
- Lead modernization efforts to migrate data warehouse processes into standardized enterprise frameworks.
- Conduct elevated access reviews, security audits, and compliance assessments.
- Identify, document, and remediate audit findings associated with data platforms, security controls, and governance processes.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and training to development and support teams.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with Teradata data warehouse administration and architecture.
- Extensive experience supporting enterprise data warehouse environments and large-scale data platforms.
- Strong experience loading and integrating data from multiple source systems.
- Experience managing and supporting ETL processes and enterprise data integration solutions.
- Minimum 5 years of Linux administration and support experience.
- Strong knowledge of Linux security, user management, permissions, groups, and sudo administration.
- Experience administering enterprise scheduling and batch processing frameworks.
- Experience with database change management, release management, and deployment processes.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse security, user access management, and compliance controls.
- Experience conducting data architecture reviews, audits, and governance assessments.
- Strong knowledge of data profiling, data quality management, and data validation techniques.
- Experience implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for enterprise data environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex data warehouse, ETL, and platform performance issues.
- Experience supporting production systems in mission-critical environments.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to development and support teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise change control, audit management, and security review processes.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data governance and operational support practices.
- Experience with cloud-based Business Intelligence and analytics platforms preferred.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred.
- Previous experience in government or highly regulated enterprise environments preferred.
- Experience supporting data warehouse modernization and platform standardization initiatives preferred.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $60.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
