OPENING FOR CRANE OPERATOR
There is an opening in the Allegany County Department of Public Works for a full-time Crane Operator .
This is an hourly position based on a 40-hour work week, seasonal 4-day work schedule with potential for overtime.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS : An employee in this class operates a crane for bridge and highway repair, construction and maintenance projects and other public works activities. This class differs from that of a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator II due to the more complex nature of equipment operated requiring greater skill and knowledge along with increased responsibility to others. Additionally, incumbents are required to be eligible for a special license to operate and service equipment operated. The work is performed under direct supervision with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES :
FULL PERFORMANCES, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS :
Thorough knowledge of crane operation; through knowledge of crane maintenance; thorough knowledge of safe crane operation and load rigging; thorough knowledge of rules and regulations regarding crane operation such as OSHA 1926, and ANSI Code 30.5; good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of other specialized heavy equipment; ability to make minor repairs, good manual dexterity; good mechanical ability; good visual acuity; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Three (3) years of satisfactory experience in the operation of specialized heavy motor equipment such as Crane, Backhoe, Excavator, Loader, etc.
